I'm checking out GUI toolkits for Ruby-Eclipse and have run through a Tk demo which worked very well but does look dated. Shoes on the other foot looks really great and shines real reddish like.
OK imagine the big conference - the why team take the stage: cue cover of Randy Meisner's 'White Shoes':

I'm no ballet dancer, but I'm struggling to take these shoes off.

Great job!!

Obedience to copyright law means submitting to the tyranny of Pac-Man!

Anyhoo I am a mighty lazy hacker in search of any shortcuts I can find. But it's true, cheating only cheats yourself in the long run.

You can launch apps from the command line, but the trick is that the "shoes" binary is buried more deeply.

cd /Applications/Shoes.app/Contents/MacOS
./shoes samples/timer.rb

Definitely calls for an alias, but it works fine.

Giles, I've got a bit more work to do on it before I release it out onto the web. To be honest, it was just a trivial little project to start out with. (Edit: and probably makes a good 'first project' if you want to try Shoes yourself.)

Also, on (more clear-headed) second-day thinking, I don't know whether copyright law prevents me from using others' published cheatsheets for various technologies as a starting point.
